Family crushed to death by falling concrete slab

A family of three was crushed to death on Monday outside Seattle when a concrete slab fell from an overpass onto their car, officials said.

The Bonney Lake Police Department said in a statement on Monday night that a man and woman in their mid-20s, along with their infant boy, were found inside the vehicle after the concrete barrier from State Route 410 fell that morning.

Local broadcaster KING5 reported, citing local officials, that the concrete was part of a sidewalk construction project on the bridge that had been going on for several weeks.

Police did not immediately identify the family.

Bonney Lake is a city of about 17,000 people, some 33 miles south of Seattle.
