Missing Calif. baby found dead in dumpster

A 3-week-old girl who was abducted after her mother, father and uncle were shot has been found dead, authorities in California said.

Eliza Delacruz was taken from a home in Long Beach on Saturday. Her body was found in a strip mall dumpster in San Diego Sunday afternoon, police said.

Authorities told CNN that the attacker possibly knew the family and that immediately after the shooting, a man fled the home with the child.

“About 4:30 p.m., San Diego County Sheriff’s Department notified Long Beach Police Department that they were investigating the discovery of a deceased infant, knowing that Long Beach Police were actively investigating a case involving a missing infant,” said Long Beach police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

The San Diego Coroner’s Office confirmed the deceased infant was Eliza.

Meanwhile, two of the shooting victims remain in critical condition at an area hospital, police said, and a third has been treated and released.
