Oregon governor expected to resign amid ethics scandal
PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber is expected to resign shortly amid conflict-of-interest allegations involving his fiancée that have triggered a criminal corruption probe, the Oregonian newspaper reported on Friday.
Top Oregon Democrats and the state treasurer on Thursday called on Kitzhaber to resign, as had the state’s flagship newspaper. Kitzhaber won re-election in November to an unprecedented fourth term as governor with the Oregonian’s endorsement.
