Navy fighter jet crashes near Fallon; pilot’s condition unknown

A Navy F/A-18C Hornet crashed during a training flight in Northern Nevada Saturday afternoon.

The Navy did not disclose the condition of the pilot.

The Hornet was assigned to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center at the Naval Air Station Fallon. The crash happened about 3 p.m. at a training complex about 70 miles east of the base.

The Navy said it will conduct a safety investigation to figure out what caused the crash.
