NLV man charged with threatening city officials

A North Las Vegas man who was having trouble getting his car out of an impound lot is now in trouble with the law after he is alleged to have written threatening letters to city administrators.

Eric Leon Christian, 37, was indicted Wednesday and charged with e-mailing threatening letters to North Las Vegas Police Chief Joe Forti and to Las Vegas Chief Deputy District Attorney Michael Davidson.

Christian is scheduled to make his first appearance in federal court on Aug. 7.

In May, Christian allegedly wrote Forti an e-mail asking for his assistance in recovering his impounded car. Christian fired off a second e-mail in June and threatened Forti, according to the indictment.

"I will have to kill to retrieve my stolen (car) and items if you do not retrieve them," the e-mail said. "Get my (expletive) car or watch a terrorist car thief DIE!!!"

Three days later, Christian allegedly typed a threatening e-mail to Davidson after he had requested information about two court cases.
