Obama leaves state; first lady to visit Nov. 1

President Barack Obama departed Las Vegas Saturday morning.

His motorcade arrived at McCarran International Airport shortly after 10 a.m. The president trotted up the steps leading to Air Force One, turned and waved briefly, before entering the plane, which then departed at 10 minutes after the hour.

Obama came to town to rally voters for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who is locked in a tight race with Republican challenger Sharron Angle.

First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to visit Nevada Nov. 1 for a similar get-out-the-vote push. The president also visited Oregon, Washington and California on this campaign trip, and from Las Vegas headed to Minnesota.
