A 48-year-old man died Friday night when the vehicle he was driving hit a traffic signal pole at Fremont Street and East Charleston Boulevard.
Las Vegas police said the driver of the 1996 Ford Ranger pick-up was traveling north on Fremont when he tried to turn right at Charleston. A 60-year-old male passenger survived the crash but is in critical condition at UMC Trauma.
It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.
This is the 64th related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year. An investigation is pending.
