All but one of the 14 people hit by a car that drove up on the sidewalk in front of the Planet Hollywood Resort on the Strip Wednesday suffered only minor injuries, Las Vegas police said.
But 70-year-old May Wong of British Columbia, Canada, suffered serious injures when she was struck by the metallic blue Pontiac G6 sedan driven by Robert Allen Christenson, 63, of Chandler, Ariz., about 4:15 p.m., police said.
Christenson suffered a medical episode just prior to hitting the pedestrians, authorities said. They said Christenson is diabetic and was treated for hypoglycemia immediately after he drove up on the sidewalk along Las Vegas Boulevard South just north of Harmon Avenue.
He was cited for failure to keep his vehicle in a travel lane, police said. His wife, Treva Christenson, 57, was in the car and was not injured.
Most of the people hit were from out of town, including several from other nations.
