Palin joins heckler in mocking Maher

The Ron Futrell-Bill Maher kerfuffle has gone viral after former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined the fray.

Palin tweeted, “Hey bully, on behalf of all kids whom you hatefully mock in order to make yourself feel big, I hope one flattens your lily white wimpy a#*.”

That tweet was followed by another: “I’m in your neck of the woods this weekend, little Bill. Care to meet so I can tell you how I really feel?”

Palin weighed in after Futrell’s heckling incident at the Palms was reported here Wednesday.

Futrell, a former sports and morning daytime news anchor at KTNV-TV, Channel 13, left Maher’s show Saturday at The Pearl concert venue at the Palms.

Futrell, who writes for the conservative news site Breitbart News, said he moved closer to the stage midway through the show to engage in “commentary,” adding he didn’t consider it heckling.

Futrell said he was upset that Maher, a liberal comedian and talk-show host, used the “r-word” to describe Palin’s 5-year-old special-needs son, Trig, who has Down syndrome.

In an interview Tuesday, Futrell said he was calling out Maher for stale jokes and mocking Mormons.

Minutes after his eviction, he tweeted, “Got kicked out of Bill Mahre.” That tweet later was deleted, and he told me it was his decision to leave.

“In a recent interview, Kanye West compared himself to Steve Jobs. He called himself the ‘nucleus of culture’ and also said he was the Michael Jordan of music. I don’t know if he’s the Michael Jordan of music, but he’s definitely the Dennis Rodman of crazy talk.” — Jimmy Fallon
