CLUB BLUE LV TO MEET OCT. 17 AT RESTAURANT

Club Blue LV is set to meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at McFadden’s Restaurant & Saloon at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Club Blue LV is a group of Las Vegas professionals in their 20s to 40s who are dedicated to continuing the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas and are seeking new members to emphasize philanthropy and encourage young professionals. VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL FESTIVAL

The Life is Beautiful Festival, scheduled on Oct. 26 and 27, is seeking volunteers for a variety of roles, including event greeters, information teams, hospitality and ticket scanners.

Volunteers must donate 10 to 12 hours of work in exchange for complimentary access into the event. They must be 18 or older.

A refundable deposit of $185 and a nonrefundable $15 processing fee are required.

ENROLLMENT ASSISTANCE TO BE AVAILABLE FOR AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is partnering with East Valley Family Services to provide information and enrollment sessions at several libraries for the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare.

A session is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Oct. 15 and 22 at the Enterprise Library, 25 E. Shelbourne Ave., and 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, where enrollment assistance is set to be available.

Nevada enrollment for health plans closes March 2014.

NEIGHBORHOOD CELEBRATES D STREET ENHANCEMENTS

Ward 5 Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow is set to celebrate the completion of D Street roadway enhancements with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the intersection of D Street and Washington Avenue.

Construction began on the $2.5 million project in March, and it extends from Washington to Owens avenues. D Street now features sidewalks that have been widened from about 4 feet to more than 9 feet.

The project also restored the pavement on the roadway, improved curb ramps and bike lanes and added new streetlights. A monument sign has been installed at the intersection of Washington Avenue and D Street that welcomes visitors to Historic West Las Vegas.

YOUTH TROUPE PLANS AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS

Auditions for the Rainbow Company Youth Theatre production of “Scrooge, The Musical” are scheduled at 1 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St.

Roles are available for people 9 or older. Participants must bring a prepared song. The show is set to be performed at the Charleston Heights Arts Center from Dec. 6-15.
