Part of Clark County Detention Center has visitation suspended

Las Vegas jail officials have temporarily suspended visitation for inmates in the North Tower of the Clark County Detention Center.

The suspension was caused by "contraband and officer safety concerns," the police officials said in a news release Thursday.

During the suspension, the news release said, corrections officials will take steps to ensure the safety of inmates, correction officers and civilian workers.

The agency did not provide more details. Inmate visits at the North Tower were scheduled to resume Sunday, and inmates housed in the South Tower would not be affected.
