Crowds gathered during the lighting of the menorah on Fremont and Fourth streets in downtown Las Vegas on Wednesday.

This year the start of Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish Festival of Lights, and Thanksgiving overlap. The festival usually occurs in December but sometimes falls in late November.
