Pregnant teen hit by pickup loses baby

A pregnant 19-year-old struck by a pickup at a bus stop near Lake Mead Boulevard and Simmons Street on Wednesday has lost the child she was carrying, according to North Las Vegas police.

The woman, whose name was not released, was eight months pregnant, police said.

The woman, an 18-year-old man who also was hit and the driver of the truck were taken to the University Medical Center. Their conditions could not be obtained Thursday.

It was the first traffic fatality in the city this year, police said.
