Reid, Sandoval get high marks for supporting education reforms

Nevada’s two gubernatorial candidates, Democrat Rory Reid and Republican Brian Sandoval, both received an “A” grade for supporting education reforms such as charter schools, data-based evaluation of teachers and a national curriculum called “Common Core.”

Their responses to a national survey by Education Reform Now and Education Equality Project are available online at http://www.edreformnow.org/candidateresponse/.

Reid responded to the survey but Sandoval did not. Researchers based Sandoval’s answers on information gleaned from his campaign website.

While Reid and Sandoval differed in their support for various issues, their scores were about equal as Reid got 20.75 points and Sandoval got 21 points out of maximum of 30 points.
