Rental business is booming, but only in Elko

ELKO -- The northeastern Nevada rental market is tight, property managers say, and houses and apartments coming up for rent are being snatched up quickly.

Sandy's Castles executive Sandy Wakefield told the Elko Daily Free Press that business has been booming since Christmas at the 300 rental properties her company manages in the Elko area.

Holly Gregory of West-states Property Management agreed that Elko's rental market is better than elsewhere in the state.

She said she has a property in Reno that is only 60 percent occupied.

Cathy Rich at Parkway Apartments and Pat Miller at Monte Carlo apartments said their properties are full, and Teresa Beck said the 208-unit Sagecrest Apartments is almost full.
