Retired legislative staffer takes job with R&R Partners

CARSON CITY - Lorne Malkiewich, who retired last year after three decades as a legislative staff member, was named director of policy for R&R Partners on Monday.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to have someone of Lorne's caliber on our team," said Pete Ernaut, president of government and public affairs for R&R Partners. "His 30 years with the Legislative Counsel Bureau have given him unparalleled insight into policy analysis. He will be a tremendous asset to our clients, both in Nevada and nationwide."

When Malkiewich retired last April, he had served the last 18 years as administrator of the Legislative Counsel Bureau, making him the highest ranking legislative staff member. Previously, he headed up the Legislature's legal division.

He will not be a lobbyist at the Legislature, according to the company, but might be called to testify as an expert witness.

In recent years, several veteran legislative staff members have retired and taken jobs with the university systems and other companies that rely on state funds. R&R Partners is one of the largest lobbying organizations in the state.

As a member of R&R's government affairs team, Malkiewich will work with regional and national clients through the firm's offices in Nevada, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Austin, Denver, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
