River panelists reappointed

CARSON CITY -- Marybel Batjer and Ace Robison were reappointed Thursday by Gov. Jim Gibbons to the Colorado River Commission.

The state commission acquires and manages Nevada's share of water resources and hydropower from the Colorado River. The panel also represents Nevada when managing the river with six other states and the federal government.

Batjer, who has served one term on the commission, is vice president of public policy and communications for Harrah's Entertainment.

Robison, who also is being appointed to a second term, is chairman of the consulting firm Robison/Seidler. He previously was chief of staff to former U.S. Sen. Paul Laxalt.

Both appointments take effect July 1.
