RTC announces bus route changes

The Regional Transportation Commission has announced changes to several Citizens Area Transit routes that take effect beginning Sunday.

Among the major changes:

• Route 101 on Rainbow Boulevard will see double-deck bus service. Riders continuing onto route 219 from 101 no longer will need to transfer.

• Route 117, which travels Las Vegas Boulevard South and Silverado Ranch Boulevard, will extend east to Maryland Parkway.

• Route 106, which travels Rancho Drive, will extend north to Centennial Hills and follow most of the previous Route 219.

• Route 111 on Green Valley Parkway and Pecos Road will split into two branches south of Sunset. Route 111A will serve Pecos, and Route 111B continues on Green Valley. The frequency of service has been increased to every 30 minutes.

Other changes include the addition of more than 40 double-deck Deuce buses.

For more details on the changes, visit http://rtcsnv.com/ or purchase a copy of the 2007 Transit Guide, which is available for 25 cents at the Regional Transportation Commission administrative building, Downtown Transportation Center, South Strip Transfer Terminal or on any CAT bus.
