Salvation Army robbed over holiday weekend

The Salvation Army headquarters in Las Vegas was robbed of $13,400 over the weekend, officials at the charity said.
Marketing director Charlie Desiderio said the missing funds were discovered Tuesday morning after the long holiday weekend. Because there was no signs of forced entry, Desiderio said the robber likely had a key to the store and to the locked filing cabinet where the cash, mostly bills from the kettles of bell ringers, was kept.
"This is a kick in the head," he said. "Who would want to steal from the Salvation Army?"
Desiderio said the charity had raised almost as much as last year, a "great sign in troubled economic times," he said.
"This puts us a bit behind now."
