Sandoval joins conservative Latino organization’s board

Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval is helping a conservative Hispanic political group get its message out.

The Hispanic Leadership Network announced Thursday that Sandoval had joined its 14-member board of national committee members.

Sandoval said in a statement that he would use the position to share his views and insight on rebuilding the American dream for Hispanics and other Americans.

The group wants to persuade Hispanic voters in swing states including Nevada, Florida and New Mexico that conservative candidates are better suited to repair the nation's wounded economy.

Sandoval is Nevada's first Hispanic governor.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Gov. Luis Fortuño of Puerto Rico also serve on the group's national committee.
