WASHINGTON — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s surgery to repair his broken leg went well, the U.S. State Department said on Tuesday.

“He is out of surgery. It went well,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters. Kerry broke his leg while cycling in France on Sunday, raising questions about how deeply he may be involved in Iran nuclear talks ahead of a June 30 deadline.

Immigration officials said they intend to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, after he declined an offer to be sent to Costa Rica in exchange for remaining in jail and pleading guilty to human smuggling charges, his defense attorneys told a court Saturday.
