RENO -- A state judge has denied bail for a Sparks mother convicted in the methadone poisoning death of her 3-year-old daughter.
Tracie Schuler, 43, faces 10 years to life in prison when she is sentenced on Dec. 14. She told Washoe District Judge Steven Kosach that she wasn't a flight risk as she awaits sentencing, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.
But Kosach denied the request Friday, agreeing with prosecutors who cited Schuler's history of drug arrests and her attempt to flee when she was indicted in her daughter's 2009 death.
At the time of Jessika Haberle's death, Schuler had been taking prescribed doses of liquid methadone to curb her heroin addiction.
The girl's father found Jessika not breathing after she was put down for a nap on Feb. 23, 2009. She died at a hospital.
