Stabbing victim identified; boyfriend held

The woman stabbed to death at an apartment late Wednesday night has been identified as 54-year-old Victoria T. Whitmarsh of Las Vegas.

Whitmarsh's boyfriend, Brian Kerry O'Keefe, 45, was arrested after a brief struggle, Las Vegas police said.

Police were called to a violent domestic disturbance at 11 p.m. at the Casa Salvatore Apartments, 5001 El Parque Ave. near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.

When officers went to the apartment, Whitmarsh was dead from multiple stabs.

O'Keefe was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center without bail on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon.

Court records show O'Keefe was found guilty of battery and battery domestic violence in 2006. He served two years in prison on the charges.
