Suspect shot, killed during home invasion
A suspect was shot and killed by a homeowner during a home invasion near Rancho and Vegas drives tonight.
Las Vegas police said they were called to the home at 1845 Sycamore Trail at 5:24 p.m. They arrived to find the homeowner in the front yard and the suspect inside the home. Neither person’s name was released.
Lt. Lew Roberts said the suspect, along with an unknown number of other suspects, kicked open the front door of the home. A struggle ensued between the suspect and the homeowner, who was described as an older man. The homeowner acquired a gun and shot the suspect.
The suspect died at the scene.
Roberts said the homeowner did not appear to know the suspects. Police did not release descriptions of the other suspects and did not have anyone in custody tonight.
