Teenage girl shot in the head Friday dies

A teenage girl who was shot in the head Friday has died after two days in critical condition, the Clark County coroner's office confirmed Monday.

Jannet Sanchez, 17, from Las Vegas, was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center on Sunday. An autopsy to determine cause and manner of death will take place Monday, a spokeswoman for the coroner's office said.

Police were alerted to the shooting that occurred at 8:45 p.m. Friday at a residence on the 2900 block of Beacon Falls Way, near Vegas Valley Drive and Nellis Boulevard.

Police said the shooting appeared to be gang related.
