Toddler falls from third-story window

A 13-month-old boy fell from a third-story condominium window in the northwest valley on Tuesday, Las Vegas police said.

Lt. Mark Reddon, a watch commander, said the boy was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition after the fall was reported at 6:04 p.m. He said the boy was bleeding from the head but didn’t appear to have broken any limbs.

Reddon said the fall occurred at 8928 Ethan Patrick Court, near Durango Drive and Elkhorn Road. He said the toddler had been playing with his older brother near the window, which was open and low to the floor.

Metro’s abuse and neglect team was investigating the fall and questioning the parents, both of whom were home at the time, Reddon said.

The preliminary investigation shows that the fall was an accident, Reddon said.

“I think the major issue right now is the head trauma,” he said of the injured toddler.
