Transit center to be built near Thomas & Mack Center
July 8, 2010 - 11:00 pm
Regional Transportation Commission executives announced Thursday they received $2.8 million in federal stimulus funds to build a new transit center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Although a construction timeline has yet to be determined, the transit center will be built east of the Thomas & Mack Center just north of the new parking garage.
The facility will accommodate campus shuttles as well as Regional Transportation Commission buses. Eventually, the new ACE system that now stops along Maryland Parkway, will also use the transit center.
A new parking garage also will be built to improve accessibility for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
