Two arrested for arson after fire guts their apartment

Two people were arrested for arson Monday morning after a fire gutted their downtown apartment unit.

James Ndoni, 30, and Rebecca Summerlin, 43, were booked into the Clark County Detention Center on first-degree arson charges. Neighbors said the two had been arguing before the fire.

Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said firefighters responded to Palm Terrace Apartments, near Charleston Boulevard and Fremont Street, about 7:22 a.m.

Fifteen people were evacuated from the two-story, 14-unit apartment building. The fire caused an estimated $35,000 in damage to the upstairs unit. No one was injured.
