Two die in Arizona plane crash

PAGE, Ariz. -- Searchers found the bodies of two men in the wreckage of an overdue aircraft they discovered Tuesday in a remote area west of Page, Coconino County sheriff's officials said.

The single-engine Cessna 172 had taken off from the Page airport Monday afternoon en route to the North Las Vegas airport, sheriff's spokesman Gerry Blair said. Sheriff's officials were told of an overdue aircraft and an emergency locator transmitter signal in the Page area Tuesday and launched a search.

A National Park Service airplane and a private medical helicopter began searching for the missing plane and quickly located the wreckage in an area about 10 miles west of Page, Blair said.

Sheriff's officials were working to recover the bodies. Names were withheld pending positive identification and notification of family.
