Vegas cop in shooting was veteran sergeant

Las Vegas police on Wednesday identified the officer who shot a knife-wielding man after a domestic dispute call.

Sgt. Sara Bradshaw, 45, and other officers on Monday afternoon responded to a domestic violence call to the 7600 block of Calico Fields Street, near Farm and Fort Apache Roads, police said.

Police were told Kyle Kuhn, 31, was armed with a knife. For about an hour, police tried to communicate with the home’s residents before they noticed Kuhn standing nearby wearing a mask, police said.

Bradshaw shot Kuhn after he advanced toward officers holding a knife, police said.

Kuhn was being treated at University Medical Center, police said.

Bradshaw, with the department since 1995, was placed on paid leave after the shooting, police said.
