Vice president rallies in Las Vegas Thursday

Vice President Joe Biden will visit North Las Vegas on Thursday for a rally two days before early voting begins in Nevada, kicking off an effort to get President Barack Obama's supporters to the polls before the Nov. 6 election.

Biden's stop in Southern Nevada will come the day after he holds a rally in Reno, making a two-day stop in one of the key battleground states that could decide the race between Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

On Thursday, Biden will deliver remarks at the Events Center at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas at 710 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

The event was rescheduled from today because Biden planned to attend a funeral for former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania.

Tickets for the originally scheduled rally will be honored at Thursday's Culinary event, the Obama campaign said. Free tickets are still available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets will be distributed beginning at 10 a.m. today at these locations:

■ 2925 Green Valley Parkway, Henderson.

■ 3230 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 111, Las Vegas.

■ 3440 W. Cheyenne Ave, Suite 300, North Las Vegas.

In Northern Nevada, Biden will hold the rally Wednesday at the Reno Ballroom. Doors open at 2 p.m.
