Welcome to cyberspace! All ages welcome!

I'm extending a warm cybergreeting to one of the newest residents of the World Wide Web, my mother-in-law, Stella!

She got connected to the Web earlier today and is checking her inbox as I type this.

For those of you who think you may be too old to venture online, pay attention. Stella turns 83 on Monday and has gone from someone with no desire to jump on the bits-and-bytes bandwagon to someone who has Wi-Fi and a desktop computer in her Pennsylvania home.

I'm protecting her identity by not sharing her surname or locale. I'm confident Stella's nearby family will remind her how to safely surf the Web. I'll update you on Stella’s progress in the weeks ahead, especially if she gets a Facebook profile or learns how to send compressed JPEG files to an FTP site.

One step at a time.
