An honest moniker for state ‘vision’ panel

To the editor:
Having read through the Nevada Vision Stakeholders Group proposals and all the related news reports and editorials, pro and con, it's obvious the panel is almost laughably misnamed. Clearly, it should be called the Nevada Vision Takeholders Group.
The panel is dominated by Takeholders: people whose primary goal in life is to take hold of everything they can get their hands on. To take hold of the labor and productivity of Nevada's private-sector working people. To take hold of the inventiveness and innovations of our entrepreneurs. To take hold of the assets accumulated over a lifetime by Nevada's senior citizens. Takeholders.
Behind the Takeholders' facade of love, compassion and social justice lies a putrid, corrupt-at-the-core political philosophy that is not progressive or liberal, but rather is rooted in a cruel and vicious authoritarianism that says: "You work. You struggle. You take the risks. You sacrifice. You do without. You save. You create the wealth. We'll take hold of it."
There are a lot of Takeholders in elected office, too. You'll know who they are when they warmly embrace the ideas in the Takeholders report but then hedge their bets with double talk about how tough times are and how it will be "difficult" to implement the plans -- at least for now.
The real question is who among all the candidates seeking election to the Legislature will actively oppose the Takeholders vision and articulate why the group's statist/regressive philosophy is so very, very wrong. Who?
