Did sitting high court justice lie to Congress?

To the editor:

Sonia Sotomayor lied -- under oath during her confirmation hearings -- to the Senate about her views on the Second Amendment granting an individual right to bear arms. Last week, she voted in favor of Chicago's handgun ban. Isn't that perjury? An impeachable offense?

Why is no one is holding her to account?

National request

To the editor:

We just returned from a two-week trip and met many people from all walks of life, educational backgrounds, income and political affiliations from across the United States. There is one topic that they all agreed on, and that is that they are counting on Nevada to dump Harry Reid. (We couldn't help them with Nancy Pelosi -- she's our neighbor California's problem.)

I feel an obligation to these fine people, the state of Nevada and to our great nation to comply.

Illegal costs

To the editor:

In response to a June 16 report on President Barack Obama's declaration that BP will pay for all cleanup costs on the Gulf coast:

The United States faces a greater problem with illegal aliens, as far as the negative fiscal impact on the country. President Obama has demanded more than $20 billion from BP to pay all damages from the oil flow. So why doesn't President Obama demand that Mexican President Felipe Calderon put up a sizable amount of money to fund all expenses of the flow of Mexican citizens who come here illegally and cost U.S. taxpayers billions and billions of dollars?

The flow of people coming from Mexico is felt in all 50 states.

President Obama accuses BP of recklessness. He, too, acts reckless in handling the illegals. The problem doesn't even show up on Mr. Obama's radar.

LETTER: Highways will go the way of the horse and buggy

I personally can’t wait to give up the soporific scenery, racetrack-like mentality and beautiful Baker bathroom stops of the Interstate 15 car commute in favor of a sleek, smooth train.
