LETTER: Las Vegas weather can lure business
February 16, 2014 - 12:01 am
To the editor:
As friends, relatives or clients back east continue to deal with one winter storm after another, it’s time for Las Vegas to take advantage of its great weather. Get companies to move here.
Two of the state’s main industries, casinos and mining, don’t want increases in taxes or fees, and we still have high unemployment. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman should be courting businesses and industries in the East and Midwest. This would bring in more dollars to help with education and help our region grow in the right direction.
A high percentage of UNLV graduates leave Las Vegas, and it’s time for them to stay. New York can’t offer the land, people, weather and the lowest taxes in the nation. Company productivity is hurting on the East Coast. Nevada would be the perfect place for companies to relocate.
