LETTERS: Obama fails to feel American citizens’ pain

To the editor:

President Barack Obama is a clown-like figurehead in the Oval Office. He has been the most arrogant, incompetent, inexperienced, divisive person to hold the office of president in the 60 years I’ve been voting. He’s extremely proficient in campaigning and spending taxpayers’ money. He professes to care about the American people and the struggling economy, all the while taking advantage of the office he was elected to with lavish vacations, exclusive and extravagant White House entertainment and expensive golf excursions. He doesn’t seem to feel our pain the way Bill Clinton did.

The president was responsible for the government shutdown. People were duped by his scare tactics of debt default, loss of disability and Social Security benefits, and by his ordering various departments to inflict as much pain as possible on the American public and veterans by closing parks and national monuments. The way he used members of the armed forces, who fight and die to give him this freedom, was a total disgrace for our nation, especially when he refused to pay the families of those who paid the ultimate price.

All of this could have been prevented if he had been willing to sit down and negotiate with a branch of his own government. He’s so willing to negotiate with Egypt’s Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood, or with Syria, Iran and ex-KGB agent Vladimir Putin of Russia, but he publicly demagogues Republicans and ignores any policies they are trying to implement for the good of the American people. It’s President Obama’s policies that are responsible for our failing economy and skyrocketing debt.

Even after getting everything he wanted from the shutdown and debt ceiling showdowns, he comes out and gloats about the massive Obamacare fiasco. The president relies on his puppets, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sens. Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin, who have lost all credibility with their demeaning rhetoric, cover-ups and lies.

This proficient community organizer and professional campaigner can lie to the American people with a straight face, as we are all finding out while the best health care system in the world goes down the drain — until we can abolish this law. My prayer is that people wake up before November 2014 and realize the following quote as fact: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have.”

Uninformed voters

To the editor:

Regarding Rick Ainsworth’s letter (“Apply term limits to bureaucrats, too,” Tuesday Review-Journal), is he aware term limits are already available? We the people, as registered voters, have the power to dispense term limits by not voting for any incumbent. The problem in this country is with uninformed voters. We are in this mess because of them.

If voters would just realize they hold all the power, there would be term limits. Stop voting for incumbents. It’s a simple solution with no need for any new laws. Is there no common sense anymore?

Also, regarding allowing public employees to unionize, thank the Democrats for that fiasco. This is how Democrats keep their jobs and feed at the trough. All those union workers keep these idiots in office at their fat-cat jobs, at the expense of the taxpayers.

Everyone who is fed up with Washington, or at least registered voters, look no further than in the mirror. You are the problem. Remember that when you are in the voting booth. Voters have the power to effect change. They just need to be better informed on the candidates they elect.

Hacking Obamacare

To the editor:

After a week of reading about the computer glitches in the rollout of the Affordable Care Act federal exchange, why has no one mentioned the obvious: the ACA website is being hacked. There has been a security breach.

There are millions of tea partiers who hate Obamacare, for reasons unknown to me. There are millions in the Republican base who don’t like President Barack Obama and who want to see him fail.

These people have tried to hamper the president for the past five years. Is it too far-fetched to think they would try to hack the healthcare.gov website and create chaos with President Obama’s most significant accomplishment?

Nothing is beneath these people who have been trying to destroy the Obama presidency.

Motorcycle accidents

To the editor:

It’s time to address the motorcycle deaths occurring in our valley and in other metropolitan areas all around the country. What can be done about these seemingly daily accidents and the deaths that have been caused? I believe there is a sensible solution to part of the problem.

Even in daytime, even with headlights on, motorcycles are not easily seen. The “See Motorcycles” program has been around for some time, but it has produced little benefit. However, there is a device that could be adapted to help recognize motorcycles more easily: the flashing lights installed on airplanes. Those lights are used for the same purpose — to be seen, from miles away. The same idea (tail lights and reflectors) helps to see bicycles at night. The configuration for motorcycles could be worked out in a way that would make the flashing work differently for clear recognition in both day and night driving.

In the future, there should be a law requiring these devices on all motorcycles. Such a law would benefit all drivers.
