LETTERS: Gun-free zones creating murder zones

To the editor:

Wonder of wonders, we had another gun-free zone shooting, this time at the Washington Navy Yard. The Marines on guard had guns, but they didn’t have any ammunition. One of the Marines said in an interview that the rampage could have been stopped after the first three shots.

Bill Clinton made the military bases gun-free zones in 1993. After what he did to the military, I can see why he did not want them armed. The Democratic Party and its minions (including the National Education Association) are creating murder zones. Have you ever read the headline, “12 people murdered at gun shop”? I haven’t, either. It’s always at a school or some other gun-free zone.

When are these wizards of smarts going to learn that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun?

Policy not useful

To the editor:

If someone at the Washington Navy Yard had been armed with a gun and shot Aaron Alexis before 12 people were killed, that person would have been hailed and given a medal for bravery. So what is this policy about members of the armed forces not being allowed to be armed at military bases? That rule has outgrown any usefulness.
