What do we lose when we dismantle out history?

Changing names and/or destroying statues is, in my opinion, censorship. If you remove historical events or names, do you call this a purification program?

How often have you told yourself, “I better remember this so next time I won’t mess it up”? George Santayana, an American philosopher, said it best: Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
