Reid’s health care bill isn’t worthy of tiniest praise

To the editor:

The Review-Journal's Wednesday editorial, "By any other name," included a very poor description of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's "health care reform":

The sentence, "Whatever malformed 'health reform' creature lurches to its feet when the Democrats are done ..." presupposes that this massive, fraudulent proposal could stand erect. Things that lurch, as in lurching to one's own feet, command at least some scintilla of respect.

Creations such as this masterpiece of arrogant government dictates are incapable of separation from dirt, and thus can only slither.

Please refrain from praising the utterly unworthy.

Rory, call your dad

To the editor:

So, Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid, a candidate for governor, wants ethics reform (Dec. 18 Review-Journal)?

I suggest he start by having a talk with his father.

Foreign policy failures

To the editor:

Remember how President Clinton's fans bemoaned the fact that there was no spectacular crisis on his watch that would enshrine him as a strong leader, like 9/11 did for President George W. Bush?

Sadly, because of his bungling of national security, President Barack Obama probably will get his chance.

The entire world recognizes his feckless political decision-making and ideological weakness in dealing with our enemies. And his squandering of our resources through inexperience in business and economics further weakens our world standing.

For an avowed internationalist, President Obama's foreign policy failures are inexplicable.
