The dean of the UNLV School of Medicine is fighting for her life at UMC. 74-year-old Dr. Barbara Atkinson is reportedly fighting a severe infection. The school’s first classes start next week.

Another Kmart is expected to close. The one on East Sahara Avenue near McLeod Drive will close in early October. Three other Kmarts in the valley have been slated for closure this year.

Lady Gaga’s downtown show planned for Thursday night has been pushed back. The superstar says she is rehearsing for her world tour which performs in Vegas August 11th. She says she’s working to reschedule a date for a dive bar show as soon as possible.

And a new $47 million flyover bridge will open at the Centennial Bowl tomorrow afternoon. The 60-foot-tall bridge spans nearly a half-mile to link Highway 95 with the beltway.

A man, woman and infant found shot dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
Police say the man shot the woman and their boy, who was almost 1.
Relatives found the bodies inside the house. A pet dog was also found shot dead.
Police say they don’t yet know the motivation.

A doctor who drugged and raped patients has been ordered to serve 50 years to life behind bars. Prosecutors say “Ben” Chung videotaped sex acts with three unconscious women and a teen girl. He claimed he had somnophilia, a fetish for sex with the unconscious.

Two top executives at SLS Las Vegas have stepped down after less than seven months on the job.
President Terry Downey and CFO Bob Schaffhauser were hired in January. The changes come amidst an impending change in the casino’s ownership. SLS has not said who is in charge in the meantime.

And an Oregon woman who groped and licked a 19-year-old female passenger on a flight from Las Vegas to Portland has been sentenced.
27-year-old Heidi McKinney pleaded guilty and received eight months of home detention and three years probation.

Faraday Future is abandoning plans for a billion-dollar electric car factory near Las Vegas. Instead, the company is looking for an existing building one-third the size in Nevada or California. That will help it start production more quickly and cheaply than starting a factory from scratch.

A police barricade this morning in which a man was holding two young children has ended. The kids were 5 months and 3 years old. The children were uninjured and the man was arrested.

A northwest Arizona man has been flown to Las Vegas after accidentally shooting himself in the groin this morning. The 19-year-old was driving on Highway 95 and reportedly had the gun unsecured in the front of his pants when it discharged. The incident remains under investigation.

1. A gunman threatening suicide yesterday barricaded himself inside the Davis Funeral Home near Eastern Avenue and Patrick Lane. Police worked for four hours negotiating with him before he shot himself in the shoulder. Police say his injuries aren’t life-threatening. At least 30 flights at nearby McCarran International Airport were grounded during the standoff.

2. First, the neighbors heard the screams. Then, police found the body. The Metropolitan Police Department says a woman in her 40s was found dead inside her home yesterday morning with multiple stab wounds. Metro Lt. Dan McGrath says there were no signs of forced entry. Anyone with information on the case should call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

3. Flooding in some areas of Planet Hollywood Resort from a leaking water pipe on Saturday night closed the north casino floor and canceled two shows. Resort officials say crews are still cleaning and drying some areas. No word on what caused the leak.

1. Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes was removed from the main event of UFC 213 last night. The UFC says she was hospitalized in Las Vegas but no word on her condition. UFC officials say customers can request a full refund of their purchased tickets.

2. A naked man was found dead yesterday. Officials say the 911 calls reported the man lying face-down on U.S. Highway 95 on the shoulder of the Charleston Boulevard off-ramp. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Las Vegas police, the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Public Safety Department are investigating.

3. Westgate wins over $2 million in damages in a legal dispute centered on its stage show, “The Elvis Experience.” The show’s untimely closing last year sparked a messy lawsuit between Westgate and a third-party production company. Westgate says the production company was in breach of its 10-year contract.
