Lights FC defender Joel Huiqui learned leadership at the highest level. Huiqui captained Mexico’s 2013 Gold Cup squad. He has been rostered 14 times by his country’s senior national team. Now Huiqui wants to use that experience to lead the Lights. For me, it was really exciting. The moment I got the jersey on my skin, when I was lining up in the dugout to go out onto the field, when I was lining up and my national anthem was playing, it was incredible.
