Bill targeting meth makers requires prescriptions for some cold medicines

A bill in the works for the upcoming legislative session aims to thwart methamphetamine makers by making legal drugs with certain ingredients available by prescription only. The bill would require customers to have a prescription from a doctor to purchase cold medicines that contain ephedrine, pseudoephedrine or phenylpropanolamine.

Sandoval wants to end furloughs but cut state employee pay 5 percent

Gov. Brian Sandoval said Wednesday he wants to end state employee furloughs and instead cut their pay by 5 percent. Under the furlough program established in 2009, most state workers got an unpaid day off a month and that cut their pay by 4.6 percent.
