(BPT) - Keeping a clean and organized home is something we all strive to do, but it is easy to neglect day-to-day housework and let little messes become much bigger. Whether your goal is a spotless home or simply spending less time picking up, these five hacks will help keep your home mess-free and give you more time to enjoy it.
A fresh microwave needs vinegar and steam
Don’t wear yourself out by scrubbing at stubborn spots in the microwave. Instead, fill a bowl with 1 to 2 cups water, 2 tablespoons of vinegar and a couple drops of your favorite scented oil. Place the bowl in the microwave and run it for five minutes. Afterwards, simply wipe the microwave clean with a damp towel!
Make your glass bakeware look brand new again
After countless casseroles and lasagnas, glass bakeware can begin to look aged. To make your glassware shine, use a bit of crumpled aluminum foil as a sponge, add warm soapy water and scrub away!
Water rings be gone!
Forgot to use a coaster six months ago? Fixing those unsightly water rings is so simple you won’t believe you didn’t think of it sooner. Outline the ring with a white, non-gel toothpaste that does not have whitening properties and let it sit for a couple minutes. Then, gently rub the toothpaste along the ring and watch the line disappear.
A spot-free, fingerprint-free faucet
If you’re constantly wiping smudges off the kitchen faucet, it may be time to install a Delta faucet with SpotShield Technology, like the Delta Dominic faucet available at The Home Depot. It offers antimicrobial protection on the finish to reduce stains and odor-causing microbial growth and allows the faucet to look newer, cleaner and sleeker for a longer time.
Blinded by the white
Cleaning blinds is a household chore that tends to get overlooked. Give your polymer blinds some TLC with a simple concoction of equal parts water and vinegar to whiten them. First, dip a cloth into the mixture so it is barely damp, wipe over each slat, and watch as your blinds transform to what they were made to look like.
