51s’ bats overwhelm Aces in 10-5 PCL victory

Brooks Conrad, Brandon Allen and Johnny Monell each had two hits and three RBIs to back 51s starter Matt Bowman’s six shutout innings as Las Vegas held off the Reno Aces 10-5 in a Pacific Coast League game Saturday night at Cashman Field.
Conrad hit a two-run homer and an RBI single, Allen hit a two-run homer and an RBI double, and Monell had two run-scoring doubles as the 51s (34-29) matched the Aces’ 15 hits.
Bowman (3-8), who gave up seven hits and two walks and struck out none, exited with a 4-0 lead.
Wilfredo Tovar and T.J. Rivera had three hits each for Las Vegas. Tovar stole his 18th and 19th bases of the season and scored three runs.
Reno (26-35) got within 4-1 when Jamie Romak hit a two-out RBI double in the seventh. The 51s answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning on five hits and two walks.
Danny Dorn went 4-for-5 with an RBI single in the Aces’ three-run eighth, and Danny Worth went 5-for-5 with a double.
Reno starter Caleb Clay (4-5) gave up four runs on seven hits and one walk and struck out one in five innings.
Left-handed reliever Chase Huchingson, recently called up from Double-A Binghamton, made his Las Vegas debut and gave up one unearned run on one hit and struck out one in one-third of an inning.
