51s fall short to River Cats

The 51s allowed two runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh, losing to the Sacramento River Cats 7-4 Monday night in a Pacific Coast League game in Sacramento, Calif.

Las Vegas (5-13) went ahead 2-1 in the top of the sixth on a Randy Ruiz RBI double and a Jason Lane RBI single, but Sacramento's Matt Carson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to put the River Cats back in the lead.

In the seventh inning, Eric Patterson had an RBI single, and Sean Doolittle followed two batters later with a three-run blast to give Sacramento (11-8) a 7-2 advantage.

Brett Harper homered for the 51s in the eighth inning, and Aaron Mathews tripled to lead off the ninth and later scored for Las Vegas' final run.

The 51s wrap up their four-game series with the River Cats in an 11:35 a.m start today.
