51s rally past Isotopes, 9-6

The Las Vegas 51s rallied for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on Friday night to pull out a 9-6 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes at Cashman Field.

The 51s trailed 6-4 entering the inning, but Las Vegas got consecutive singles from Matt Reynolds, Allan Dykstra and Andrew Brown to start the inning.

Brandon Allen then lifted a high pop down the right-field line that drifted foul and then came back into fair territory. Three Albuquerque fielders surrounded the ball, but none could come up with it and it fell for an RBI single to make it 6-5.

Taylor Teagarden had an RBI single to tie the game, and Daniel Muno lined a double off the wall in left-center field to score two runs for the final margin.

Silverado High graduate Chasen Bradford (2-1) threw a scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win, and Gonzalez Germen pitched a scoreless ninth to get his fourth save.

Josh Satin and Andrew Brown each had a two-run homer for Las Vegas (67-54). It was the 19th homer of the season for Brown, and Satin hit his eighth.

The Isotopes (55-65) gave 51s starter John Lannan a rude greeting to start the game. Leadoff man Darwin Barney lined a double to right, and Joc Pederson followed that with a two-run homer to right field, his 25th of the season. Tim Federowicz then blasted a long homer to left-center field, his 11th, for a 3-0 lead.

Las Vegas pinch hit for Pacific Coast League batting leader Matt den Dekker in the bottom of the first. The Mets announced they were promoting the outfielder to replace Chris Young, who was designated for assignment. Den Dekker was batting .334 with 31 doubles, eight homers and 46 RBIs in 92 games with the 51s.

The five-game series continues at 7:05 p.m. today with Cory Mazzoni (2-1, 4.43) scheduled to start for Las Vegas against Chris Reed (0-0).
