Arbor View claims final state tourney berth

Michael Blazek's two-out double in the bottom of the eighth scored Brooks Robinson to give Arbor View a 2-1 win over Silverado in a state baseball tournament play-in game at Durango on Saturday.

The victory gives the Aggies the final berth in the Class 4A state tournament, which begins Thursday at the Community College of Southern Nevada.

Robinson led off the eighth with a walk and was sacrificed to second. After a strikeout and an intentional walk, Blazek hit an 0-2 pitch to the center-field fence to score the winning run.

Blazek got the victory, allowing two hits in four scoreless innings of relief. Starter Dustin Hobbs allowed three hits and struck out six in four innings.

Silverado's Kevin Rath and Chase Bradford combined on a four-hitter.

Faith Lutheran 6, Pahrump Valley 4 -- At Pahrump, the Crusaders used three two-run innings to defeat the Trojans and win the Class 3A Southern League tournament.

With the score tied 2-2, Faith Lutheran scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good.

Alex Tracy singled home the tying run, and Adam Jones had an RBI single. Jones was 2-for-4 with a double for the Crusaders.

Both teams will advance to this week's state tournament at Faith Lutheran.

Calvary Chapel 10, Pahranagat Valley 2 -- At Tonopah, Anthony Uran went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Lions defeated the Panthers to capture the Class 1A Southern Regional title.

Cameron Harper had two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for Calvary Chapel.

Harper scored three runs, and he threw a four-hitter with eight strikeouts to get the victory.

Both teams will advance to the 1A state tournament at Henderson International.
