Arencibia leads 51s past Beavers

J.P. Arencibia hit two three-run homers Friday as the 51s kept alive their bid to finish the Pacific Coast League season above .500 with a 7-2 victory over the Portland Beavers in Portland, Ore.

Arencibia drilled his 20th homer of the season in the first inning, then added his 21st in the seventh to account for the game's final runs.

The 51s improved to 69-71 with three games remaining in the season.

David Purcey (9-6) worked the first 5 1/3 innings for Las Vegas, giving up six hits and two runs to pick up the victory. Three 51s relievers combined to two-hit the Beavers in the final 3 2/3 innings.

Howie Clark had a double and a single for the 51s.
