Avery, Brodeur battle heats up

Nobody cares about hockey.

Sure, the NHL’s playoffs rival those of any major pro sport in terms of action and thrills. Yet still, the sport struggles to find a place in America’s consciousness.

Everyone might start paying attention, however, if the feud between Sean Avery and Martin Brodeur would get more coverage. It’s as good as any triple-overtime Game 7.

Avery, a retired pest and fashion maven, appeared on “Dancing With the Stars” only to be eliminated during the show’s first week.

Broudeur, who has a well-documented history with Avery that resulted in a rule change dealing with how forwards can antagonize goaltenders, commented to NJ.com about Avery’s appearance on the show.

“What more could he do to embarrass himself?” Brodeur told the website with a laugh. “There it is!”

Avery fired back on Twitter.

“Woke up beside a #Supermodel to hear news that #Fatso made a comment,” Avery posted, adding his participation on DWTS helped out a charity.

Then, he added a second tweet: “Embarrassing is when you sleep with the #Nanny and get caught :)”

Shots fired.

Brodeur’s first marriage ended when the superstar goaltender allegedly had an affair with his sister-in-law, whom he eventually married.

See, hockey can be fun.
