Oklahoma City downs 51s, 6-3

Chris Heisey and Andy Wilkins homered, and winning pitcher Joe Wieland hit a two-run double as the Oklahoma City Dodgers downed the 51s 6-3 in a game pitting the Pacific Coast League’s top teams Friday night at Cashman Field.

Wieland (4-1) gave up three runs on five hits and two walks and struck out four in five innings. His two-out, two-run double in the second inning followed an RBI double by O’Koyea Dickson and put Oklahoma City (27-13) up 3-0.

Las Vegas (27-15) pulled within 3-2 in the bottom of the second on consecutive two-out run-scoring singles by starting pitcher Tyler Pill and Danny Muno.

Heisey’s 10th homer of the season, a two-out solo shot in the third, was answered by Alex Castellanos’ two-out solo shot in the bottom of the inning. It was Castellanos’ ninth homer of the season.

Wilkins’ two-run shot in the sixth, his second homer of the year, capped the scoring.

Buck Britton went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Dodgers, who matched the 51s’ seven hits.

The teams combined for two hits over the final four innings, both by Las Vegas. T.J. Rivera had a single in the seventh, his second hit of the game, and Brandon Allen had a two-out pinch single in the ninth.

Pill (1-1) gave up six runs on seven hits and one walk and struck out two in six innings.

51s relievers Logan Verrett, Chase Bradford and Jon Velasquez limited Oklahoma City to one walk over the final three innings.
